Volunteers are always welcome and appreciated. We have always viewed this community as our own little LGCS family. As the saying goes... it takes a village. Your time and ideas for enhancements are always welcome. Below are some ideas and opportunities.
New ideas and suggestions are always welcome!
**Please know that we know that families are busy. While volunteers are welcome, parents are never required to volunteer or spend extra time at school. We are already grateful that you have chosen to let your child spend their days with us.
Room Parents are responsible for organizing class party including party volunteers, activities, and special snacks, Teacher Appreciation Week, etc. There are usually 2-3 Room Parents for each class.
Thank you to everyone who has volunteered! Below are the Room Parents. We are using first names only for privacy in alphabetical order.
Kindergarten: Brett & Kaval
Jr. Kindergarten: Andon, Andrea & Jaclyn
Pre-K: Krissy
Preschool: Christy, Kathy, Lauren
Polish Preschool: Anna, Dominika, & Joanna
Assistance with any of the gardens is always welcome. We have so much space that you are even welcome to pick a spot that needs some love and put your creative green thumb to work.
With 5 acres, there is always something that we would like to add to the property to enhance it for the children. We would like to add a splash pad for the summer, a baseball diamond for the kids, computers for the teachers, etc.
Historically, the best fundraisers for the school are events. This ends up being a win for everyone. It is usually a fun night out for the family and the school can put a little money away for enhancements. We can keep the cost down for attendees with event sponsors. It takes a team to pull this off and keep the costs inline for everyone.
The school always hosts a Fall Festival and a Spring Fair. Last year, Jim Gill performed a concert for our Fall Festival. There are so many events that we can host on 5 acres - Fall Festivals, Winter Wonderland, Movie Night on the Farm, Easter Egg Hunt, etc.
In the last few years, LGCS started moving outside as much as possible and even adding outdoor classrooms. Nationally, we are not the only ones to do this, but there are few programs like this near us.
The feedback from the families on the transition to a blended indoor/outdoor program has been wonderful. Everyone has been so supportive. We plan to continue enhancing the outdoor space with educational outdoor stations/experiences. Many of these are DIY projects that would take more time than money. Below are some of our wishlist items. Any help, suggestions or ideas is always welcome.
This is a new opportunity. We had a parent comment that while the current pick-up and drop-off line is very convenient, they wish there were more opportunities to socialize and get to know some of the families. If there is anyone that wants to take point in coordinating some social events, you are welcome to do so. The school can be used for any social events for families or parents/adults. These social outings do not need to be limited to LGCS. It could be a Mom's Night Out at a local restaurant, group tickets to a Cubs game or a field trip to a children's play.
Some people are incredibly talented and creative at outdoor decorating. This is the perfect opportunity for you. Feel free to decorate as much as you want - Halloween, Fall, Winter Wonderland, etc.
