Over the years we have have had family events for fundraisers. This year, we are hoping to tap into past, present and future families. We receive calls all of the time from fundraising companies that want us to sell their candy or products. I have never been comfortable with this. One of our families was listening to all of our ideas and suggested that we share with everyone and just ask for funds. So, here we go....
Below are all of our ideas for our LGCS Vision Board.
Scroll down for details.
Barn
Pond
Fencing
Gate
Roadside Farmstand

This 4800 sq. ft building has been in concept and review for the last two years. We are so excited to finally have the permits for this building. This will replace the current Clubhouse (trailer). It will have room for us to grow and host events for our families.
The school has already secured a loan and committed to
$1,400,000 for this project
which is why we are hoping to fundraise for the rest of our wish list. This will be done late spring. We will be having a Grand Opening with a band to celebrate with all.
This is the first time we have asked for donations from our families. It is a little out of our comfort zone as we respect that we are private school. Our wonderful families have already chosen to let us spend the day with their children. While we welcome all donations, it is important that none of our families feel "pressure" to donate. We will also be sharing the total raised with everyone. Our preferred method of donation is Venmo without the purchasing feature turned on. This will eliminate any fees from credit cards or other Go Fund Me style fundraisers. Cash and checks are always welcome too. You are welcome to donate publically or anonymously. We will figure out how to post both. We are comfortable with anyone in the public seeing this as all funds go directly to the school. We plan on being completely transparent on where every donated $$ goes.

Since the school has been around since 1987, we have 1000s of alumni. Our goal is $100 per alumni.

This past fall we rescued a horse and a pony. These are very welcome but unplanned additions to the farm. Our goal has been not only to teach the children about the animals but to show them how to safely care and respect them. This new 3 or 4 stall barn with ag limestone runs for the animals.
The children love playing with frogs over the summer. We would love to add a pond zone for additional nature education. We have two options.
1. Smaller Frog & Turtle Pond = $18,000
2. Larger Recreational Pond = $140,000. This option would have a zero depth entrance for the children to splash and get wet during the summer. There would be a smaller frog and turtle pond to this. A recreational pond is safe for swimming and is naturally filtered with wetland plants. This is an additional educational area to learn about pond habitats. This area would be completely fenced in and located at the north of the current parking lot.

There is a concept call Paddock Paradise or Track System that encourages animals to move on a smaller acreage. Essentially, they have a walking track and food is placed along the path to encourage equine to move and get exercise. This would serve as dual purposes for us as it would fence in the property and be useful for the animals. Many people use electric fences which are a little cheaper, but that is not something that would would do at school. Traditional fencing would be the only option. The cost of this fencing will depend on how far we put it around the property. It would be nice to have a walking path all the way around the property. We will start with around the sports field and garden area and add more walking paths as we have funds.

As we grow, it would be nice to have an extra layer of security with driveway gates. We would prefer to keep the traditional farm look and feel. We received quotes ranging from $11,000-$30,000 depending on if this is a manual or electric gate.
We have such a unique setting. There are so many options and ideas that flow from the teachers and the children. One of our collective ideas was to add a road side stand that would include eggs from our chickens, flower arrangements made by the children from our garden, books for a "little free library", and a giving pantry. Maintaining this stand will be a service project for our students, campers and counselors in training. This will be on wheels.
As we grow, we will need a something for us to transport supplies and feed around the property. This is the pricing of a new utv, but we are completely open to a used vehicle.
This is a little insight into our vision of where everything will be located on the property.
