LGCS is very fortunate to have a wonderful and professional team. Not only are the teachers dedicated to the school and children, we all feel like this is our second family. It is privilege to be able to work with all of them daily. All of our lead teachers have been with us for over 5 years and have a college undergraduate degree. Many of the teachers also have a master's degree too. We look forward to working with you as a team to provide the best educational environment and environment for your child.
Margie Marzec has been teaching and managing the school since 2011. She attended Purdue University for her undergraduate degree and Loyola University for her MBA. She adores the children and is a big kid herself. She is easily one of the silliest teachers with the children and feels so lucky that she gets to see their smiling faces everyday. Her goal for the students is to channel their natural curiosity into a love of learning and coming to school everyday. Although some of the children believe that she lives at school, when not teaching, Ms. Margie enjoys spending time with her family, dogs and the school’s new donkeys.
Commitment to Families
We pride ourselves on professionalism and working as a team with parents to ensure a wonderful educational experience. Communication is the key to our success as a team. The teachers and school will constantly be updating you on your child’s activities and progress. We welcome you to do the same including any suggestions and feedback that you have for us.
Our teachers will create programs appropriately challenge each child and foster their love of learning. Our parents should feel comfortable leaving the children with us knowing that he or she will be safe, happy and thriving. We look forward to nurturing and developing your child's mind, body and spirit.
Kathy Nelson is our lead Jr. Kindergarten teacher. Her under grad, graduate work, and teaching degree are all in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Kathy's experience includes teaching Preschool and Jr. Kindergarten, First and Second Grades, as well as tutoring grades Kindergarten through Fifth. I believe learning should be engaging, supportive, and fun. The environment she strives to create will nurture each child's unique developmental level: cognitively, socially, and emotionally. She wants your child to enjoy school and learning, as well as become problem solvers and active learners. Our year is filled with Literature, Math, Science, Music, Art, friends, and fun!
Ms. Sylwia has been with Long Grove Country School for 8+ years. She has taught in the Preschool and Jr. Kindergarten classes. Ms. Sylwia was born and raised in Poland where she taught Science. She has such a wonderful rapport with all of the students but has a special talent for helping nurture and develop our Polish students. While our Polish Program was originally designed for students with Polish as a first language, we have many of our English speaking students requesting new programs to learn Polish from Ms. Sylwia. We are so proud of how our Polish Program has grown thanks to Ms. Sylwia.
In her spare time, Ms. Sylwia enjoys bike riding and spending time with her husband and has become our resident “chicken whisperer”. She frequently comes to school early to “walk” the chickens.
